Live Blogging a Yard Sale

0142:

I really need to get some sleep if I hope to survive this day. Back later with more.

0723:

We are set up. Let the games begin!

0738:

I don't know what is up. Not nearly the number of 'early' shoppers this year. I hope the ad actually ran in the paper. Oh well, they'll come. They always do. Time for another cup of coffee and a doughnut.

0811:

I'm starting to think that my rage against the vampires last year is what kept them away today. No one was waiting at the door at 6 or 7. No one rang the doorbell. But then the sale doesn't officially begin, as advertised, until 9. Two of my neighbors are having sales today as well, which should help attract traffic. I just hope the weather holds.

0903:

Things are picking up. We are getting more traffic all the time, and people are actually buying some of this crap the fine merchandise we are selling. We've also been visited by the sweetest cat that has made itself at home. It has gotten so much attention, I don't think it will ever go home.

0919:

W00t! We're makin' money now.

0946:

Well, the initial rush has now ended. We did very well for a half hour or so, with almost 20 people here at once. And they bought a lot. It has been sprinkling rain a bit, but nothing that would require covering tables, or pulling them into the garage. The real rain is not supposed to arrive until this afternoon sometime. Wish us luck on that.

1012:

Well, I guess I jinxed myself. The rain showers have picked up, and so have we. The more fragile items of junk fine, gently used merchandise. Anything likely to melt or turn to a mass of smelly pulp is now under cover. The rain has brought out more vultures shoppers, looking to strike a bargain, now that they feel we are desperate to move merchandise because of the weather. And they are right. We are willing to bargain. We have been for the past week. Just don't tell them, okay?

1039:

Someone just asked if my laptop was for sale. Uh...no.

1118:

We took advantage of the lull in the action to eat an early lunch. The showers have stopped for now, and the sky is a bit lighter. The bottom-feeders shoppers have begun to appear again. But these folks sure are a picky lot.

So are the vampires there?

i'd help, but you probably don't need someone to order a 10 cubic yard dumpster. that's how i did it this last move.
hey nook, have a yardsale. hey nook, if you have a yardsale, mind if we bring some things over?...yakyakyak.
it was a lot easier to get the dumpster, and let the friendly garbage company take it all away. even my hand made (by me)roll top desk.

OK - here - this post - this is where blogging becomes journalism!

Oh.my.god.

The "Help me" image you have up right now practically made me spit iced tea all over my laptop.

See, I could have a yard sale and get rid of some of my "stuff" before I move, but I'm not so willing to get rid of it all...

I'm glad I resisted all your demands that I have a yard sale. Not only was it winter, but, well, did you enjoy your day? I wouldn't have. And there's a dumpster at druid labs east right now, emptying out the very last of the detritus.

Love the picture! LOL!

After looking at that photo again, I need to offer lots of hugs and good cheer. And the hope that you made it through okay.

Cool post..

And thanks adding the blogroll-slash-link to your frequent reads. I appreciate it.

Take it easy!

I haven't laughed this hard in quite a long time. That "Help Me" pic is just classic. Thanks for making me laugh out loud, Aalln! I heart you!
