Ali and I finally got our new sectional sofa. We received a call on Thursday from the store where we ordered it to let us know it had arrived.
Unfortunately, the store does not deliver, and it is in Covington, about 80 miles north of here. So I spent Friday trying to line up a van or truck in which to bring it home. There was no way we were going to fit it in the Jetta.
I ended up renting a cargo van from U-Haul. We picked it up Saturday morning and drove to Covington to get the sofa.
Despite my having told the caller from the store that we would be there on Saturday to get the sofa, they were not expecting us. It was still stored in their on-site warehouse. On the third floor. So we had to wait a bit while it was brought down to the loading dock.
But within a half hour or so of arriving at the store, we has it loaded in the van and were ready to head home. But by then it was lunchtime, and we were both hungry. I really needed to eat, as I was suffering from a cold. I still am, but am feeling a lot better than I was that day.
Luckily we had passed a Frisch's Big Boy restaurant a couple of block before reaching the store. So we stopped there on our way back to the Interstate.
We had a nice relaxed lunch, followed by a couple of cups of coffee, while we observed our fellow diners at the restaurant. That was fun to do. I think we both will be writing more about what we observed.
Then we hit the road. Ali offered to drive as she could tell I was feeling terrible, but the van was just too big for her. She could barely see over the steering wheel, even with it tilted down, and the seat pushed all the way forward. So I took the wheel once again.
The drive home couldn't end soon enough. I was worn out, and stuffing up to the point that breathing was becoming difficult.
We made it back home without getting a speeding ticket.
Getting the sofa unloaded and in the house took some time. The larger section was a bit challenging to get through the front door and entryway, but we finally got it in, and got the legs screwed on.
I wasn't about to take a break. I was ready to get it in and sit my butt down upon it.
But even then, we couldn't rest. We needed to get the van back to U-Haul. When we got back from there, we both collapsed on the sofa and spent the rest of the evening there.
It was worth all the trouble it took to get it home.

It looks great. Well worth the effort.
Enjoy!
And I hope you're feeling better.

Wonderful! I love getting new furniture; I am always admiring it. This weekend I did a lot of yard work and planting, so I have been out every day several times to congratulate myself. Hope your cold is soon better--I hate spring and summer colds!

You guys need a staff. Butlers, maids, and groundskeepers. Oh, and a stable boy for me when I come visit. That's "stable" as in tack room, horses, and stalls, not "stable" as in not-off-his-meds.
But that's important, too, really.

I'm sorry to hear you are under the weather. I just threw out the last of my chicken noodle soup. Let me know if you need me to make you a batch!
The sectional looks fabulous. You sound like you are having so much fun fixing up the house. I might be just a tad jealous.

I'm still tripping out that we were in Covington on the same day... My first trip to Covington... we even talked about lunchin' at the Big Boy, but the wedding rehearsal went longer than expected. I only saw a glimpse of Kentucky, but found it lovely!
